Take a Walk on the Wild Side.

Always be prepared to embarrass yourself and make mistakes. Lately before I go do anything I listen to some rock 'n' roll and tell myself, "Just say (or don't say anything at all if that's what you want) and do what you want even if it's embarrassing or not right... because everyone, including myself, is going to die someday. Care, but only care enough. Mainly, have fun in life because it doesn't last forever... and when you're gone you're gone for good." I'm not joking. I totally do this at least once a day. I am constantly reminding myself not to care about anything too much but to mainly enjoy myself and the company of others... this totally helps with any anxiety or stress. It totally dissolves. It makes me love my life a little more each time I do it. So try it, cause I love it.

"It's not about what happened in the past, or what you think might happen in the future. It's about the ride, for Christ's sake. There is no point in going through all this crap, if your are not going to enjoy the ride. And you know what... when you least expect something great might come along. Something better then you even planned for."

ANYWAYS...

Let's talk tunes.
Can I just say... I love music from the 90s. Maybe it is because that is my era... or just maybe because this era rocked musically. I think it's both. Most of my favorite songs and bands are from the 90s. So here is one example of why I love 90s tunes...
(please excuse the chinese animation)

ALSO.
This is my pre summer jam. I hope you enjoy as much as I.
Love the video.
(Not from the 90s...just sayin')

I was not sure of this photo when I took it. The light was hot and I wasn't sure I could get a color that was not blown out. But I played with it and I am OK with it. I liked the texture of the plants.....

Mimas' inner Pacman

On the left, Mimas' cool exterior. On the right, Mimas's hidden Pacman-self. In fact, the pattern emerged when the Cassini probe took the temperature of Saturn's moon, which has been named after the mythological Mimas, one of the Giants, and a son of Greek deity Gaia.

Child bear

Refreshing. (You may get a bear belly, though.)

US Republicans spend $2000 on strippers: eyes wide shut

'The spending is disclosed in a Republican filing, as required by US law, to the Federal Election Commission. It says that $1,946.25 (£1,300) was spent on 4 February for meals at the Voyeur West Hollywood by the Republican National Committee'. Apparently, in the Los Angeles Times, the Voyeur West Hollywood has been compared to the private club in Stanley Kubrick's last film, Eyes Wide Shut. Strategically undressed women and assorted sexual frolics all over the shop - you get the drift.

I must say, I like the wording: 'spent ... for meals'.

Too early for what?

Myrna Loy and William Powell in The Thin Man (1934)

“Would you like a drink?”
“It’s a little early, isn’t it?”
“Too early for a drink?”
“No! Too early for stupid questions! Of course I want a drink!”

'Penistone' censored

'The blocking of harmless websites or e-mails by trigger-happy filters is nothing new', reports the BBC. Filters are configured to catch words that are commonly associated with spam, which is a good thing. Too much of that good thing, however, prevented residents of the (fabulously named, I must admit) North Yorkshire town of Penistone from registering with internet providers, because, according to the filters, their town name contained an obscenity.

Even worse, occasionally, such filters are configured not merely to censor real or supposed obscenities, but to replace them with synonyms that won't offend genteel tastes: 'tit' becomes 'breast' and so on. However, in 2008, 'a news website run by the American Family Association censored an Associated Press article on the sprinter Tyson Gay.

A filter decided that "gay" was an offensive word, which should be replaced with "homosexual".

The resulting article began with the memorable headline: "Homosexual eases into 100m final at Olympic trials
".'

Story from the BBC

Wordoids

In its own words, 'Wordoid is a site which attempts to solve a common problem faced by almost everyone who is going to start a firm or a website/blog — finding a name which is unique and whose domain is available.'

Even if you're not looking for a fancy, wacky, but - according to Wordoid's standards - plausible though fictitious domain name, it's still fun for those with (yet another) few idle moments to spare.

Somewhat predictably, I tried out the word 'sex', ticking the 'Create wordoids that sound natural in English' option. Among the permutations Wordoid generated there were 'prosexual', 'sexualific' (this one I liked), but also the very unnatural-sounding 'rosextort' and 'mosexture' (eh?). I'd been hoping for 'dylsexic' - which would be perfect for the sexually dyslexic (make a mess of it, and hard to make sense of), and 'sexamination' (to which every prospective boyfriend/girlfriend ought to be dutifully subjected), but, alas, none of those wordoids came up.

Have a go yourself at Wordoid.com (thanks, N.)

Vast Open Fields.

Listen to this song and tell me it does not make you want to be in at least one of these pictures.

Now that's what I call 'innovative'

To perk up the humdrum, Heinz came up with 57 varieties. I guess 54 missionary positions achieve much the same.

The 88, which in this case looks like an 89

The intriguingly named neglected eighty-eight butterfly (Diaethria neglecta). I can see the 'eighty-eight' bit (although here it's more of an 89). It's the 'neglecta' that intrigues me.

Two dragons from The Mabinogion

The word 'Mabinogion' fascinated me when I first saw it in print. Its etymology seems to remain something of a mystery, but the stories in the collection, anthologised from medieval Welsh manuscripts, make for an entertaining read.

From 'The Story of Lludd AND Llevelys', in Vol. 3 of The Mabinogion.

He's not the messiah

Read the full article in the Guardian

London-born food activist and author Raj Patel has been picked, and is practically stalked, by the batty members of hitherto unknown religious group Share International as the new messiah.

Apparently 'Patel's background and work coincidentally matched a series of prophecies made by an 87-year-old Scottish mystic called Benjamin Creme', the leader of the group. 'Because he matched the profile, hundreds of people around the world believed that Patel was the living embodiment of a figure they called Maitreya, the Christ or "the world teacher".'

Patel, whose political views lean towards anarchy, has denied staunchly that he is the messiah, but, in genuinely Montypythonesque fashion, the religious loonies declared that his denial had also been prophesied, which proved, perversely, that in fact he is the messiah.

Meanwhile, Raj Patel's parents find the whole business hilarious: they've bought him clothes that say 'he's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy'.

Someone should send the cult's members t-shirts saying 'Biggus Dickus'.
